    What are Credits?

    Credits are Mapify’s standard unit for using AI features. Every time you generate a mind map, refine content, or chat with AI, a certain number of credits are consumed depending on the model type, file size, and task complexity.

    How do Credits work?

    Credits are only consumed when Mapify’s AI performs an active task — such as analyzing documents, summarizing content, or generating mind maps. Uploading files or browsing existing mind maps does not consume credits.

    Credit consumption is dynamically calculated based on:

    • Model type: Advanced models like GPT-4 or Claude 3 consume more credits.
    • File size and content complexity: Longer or more detailed files (PDFs, videos, web pages, etc.) require more computation.
    • Output type: Generating large mind maps, long-form summaries, or multi-round chats consumes more credits.

    If a task fails due to system issues, all consumed credits will be automatically refunded.

    However, if you manually stop a task midway, the used credits will not be refunded.

    When are credits deducted?

    • Credits start being consumed after clicking “Generate” or “Refine.”
    • If you click “Stop” midway, the process will terminate immediately, and the used credits will not be refunded.
    • If an error occurs on Mapify’s end, a full refund will be issued automatically.

    How to check or get more credits?

    • You can view your remaining and total credits anytime in your profile panel (e.g., “853 / 1000 credits”).
    • Upgrade your plan in Pricing to get more monthly credits.
    • We’ll soon add an estimated credit cost preview before each generation task.

    Tips for managing credits

    • 🧠 Choose lightweight models (e.g., GPT-4o-mini) for simple summaries.
    • 🪄 Combine related edits into one refinement to reduce repeated runs.
    • 📄 Upload focused, well-structured files to optimize cost.
    • ⏳ Subscription credits refresh monthly; purchased add-on credits never expire.
